Chapter 27
Chapter 27: New News
By: Rosy
After the girls finished eating they wheeled Megan in her wheelchair back to her room. A nurse walked in and said, “Girls, the principal just called and said you’ve got 20 more minutes until he comes to pick you up.”
“Okay,” Erin said, glancing at her notes, “We still need to decide on the outfits, and we still need to come up with a named.”
“Well, can I play the song I”m working on first?” Megan asked.
“Oh yah! Sorry,” Erin said, “go ahead!”
Megan picked up her guitar and played a beautiful chord-tune.
“That’s SO awesome, Megan!” Jenny exclaimed.
“Yeah! It’s really pretty!” Erin agreed, “And I wrote a poem yesterday that would go PERFECTLY with that!”
“Awesome!” Sophie said, “And I know some rhythms that would go great with that, and possibly a little drum solo? My mom just got me a sweet new drum solo book!”
“Once you guys get going on your parts, I’ll work up some cool chords and harmonies! But can we hear that poem, Erin?” Jenny asked.
“Oh yeah! Sure!” Erin said, “Here goes:
I’ve come a long way down this stormy road.
I’ve traveled far and wide to the unknown.
Yeah, I kept walkin’ on and searchin’ for you.
Then I found you in the lunchroom!
Jesus, that’s where I found You!
Jesus, that’s where You made me Yours!
Jesus, that’s where You took me in and held me tight!
Lunchroom Jesus!
Times got tough but I had someone to turn to.
I kept holdin’ strong and prayin’ to you.
You are the rock that keeps me strong when I feel weak.
Yeah, since that day I found you in the lunchroom!
Jesus, that’s where I found You!
Jesus, that’s where You made me Yours!
Jesus, that’s where You took me in and held me tight!
Lunchroom Jesus! Oooh, Lunchroom Jesus!
So much is happenin’ and I have to turn to you!
When I’m going through so much, there’s nothin’ else to do!
Cuz you’re my lunch…room….Jesus….Whoa, oh, oh
Cuz you’re my lunch…room…Jesus…Whoa, oh, oh…oooh
Jesus, that’s where I found You!
Jesus, that’s where You made me Yours!
Jesus, that’s where You took me in and held me tight!
Whoooaa! Lunchroom Jesus!”
“Wow, ERin! That is so cool!” Megan exclaimed.
“Yeah! I can’t wait till we can get all the parts worked out and you can sing it with us!” Sophie said.
“Yeah…well…umm…it’s not exactly for me to sing…” Erin replied.
“Who then?!” Megan asked.
Jenny quietly said, “But Erin….” then she burst, “I’m not a singer!”
“Oh, c’mon, Jenny!” Sophie said, “I’ve heard you sing a couple times…and it would be so much fun!”
“Well, what about ERin? What would she do during that whole song?!”
“I already have some great back-up-singer ideas, so I could just do that for this song!” Erin answered.
“Well…I guess…I’ll do it!” Jenny said with excitement.
“Awesome!” Sophie exclaimed, and the girls did a 4-way high five.
“Now, onto the name of our band…” Erin said.
Suddenly a nurse rushed in, “I’m looking for a Megan Davis,” she said quickly with a worried look.
“Ummm…yeah…that’s me…” Megan said, beginning to worry.
“Please come with me…quickly! I’ll explain to you on the way.”
“O…k…,” Megan said sliding into her wheelchair.
“I’ll come with you and ‘wheel you’,” Sophie said.
The 3 rushed out of the room and into the hallway.
“Megan, your mother was 4 months pregnant. Well, today when your mother was sitting in the waiting room at about 10:15, waiting to see you, when she went into labor. She was rushed to a room, and at 1:15, it did not take long, she gave birth to premature twins. A boy and a girl. Your parents named the boy Marcus, but your mother decided to let you name the girl. They’re in very critical condition, yet they’re doing fairly well for twin babies this premature…”

Back in Megan’s hospital room, Sophie and Jenny sat in deep thought.
“What do you think happened?” Sophie asked, “Do you think there’s something else wrong with Megan?!”
“I don’t think so…,” Jenny replied, “otherwise the doctor and the nurses would just come in here.”
“Whatever could be wrong?!”
“Do you think Melony or Max got in a car accident or something?” Jenny asked with wide eyes.
“No, not during school hours…”
“Oh yeah, but what should we do?!”
“Well, I think we should pray.”
Jenny nodded in agreement, and then the girls bowed their heads, closed their eyes, and began to pray their hearts out to God.

Right when Megan was wheeled into the doorway, she jumped out of her wheelchair and collapsed in her mom’s embrace.
The nurse pulled the wheelchair over, gently picked up Megan, and sat her down in it, then she said, “Honey, you’re still too weak to be out of your wheelchair.”
Then another nurse came in and said, “I’m looking for Erin Rogers.”
“That’s me,” Erin answered.
“Please come with me. Principal Lockette has been waiting for you girls for five minutes, and he doesn’t seem very patient.”
“His meeting with Mrs. Deany…” Erin though.
Erin went with the nurse, and when she was Sophie and Jenny, they ran up to her and asked a million questions.
“Mrs. Davis had TWINS really EARLY!” Erin exclaimed talking one hundred-words-a-minute, “They named the boy Marcus, but they’re letting Megan name the girl, so we’ll probably get to help! But, c’mon! We better hurry out to Principal Lockette’s car! The nurse said he was kind of impatient!”
The girls rushed out to the car, and the principal drove them back to school.
When they got to school, the rest of the 8th graders were on a 5-minute break from Professor Kirkson’s math class.
Sophie ran up to Becca Johnson, with Erin and Jenny close behind, and asked, “What happened in the principal’s meeting with Mrs. Deany?! I want all the details!”
“Okay,” Becca started, “When Principal Lockette met with Mrs. Deany…”
