Chapter 17: Is Something Wrong? By: Rosy

“I…I’m all right,” Megan gasped.

“You hate your new look that much, Megan?” Sophie asked as she stared at her feet.

“No! I love it! The curl gives it so much volume! I love the thickness! And my eyes look so good with the teeny bit of eye-liner! I’m so glad you just gave me some clear, shiny lip gloss too! I’m so not ready for lipstick!” Megan said as she slowly stood up.

“Are you sure you can stand up, Megan?” Erin said with a worried look.

“Yah, I’m…I’m fine. I just feel a little weak and I have a little headache. I kinda wanna go home now, if that’s okay, of course.”

“That’s perfectly fine!” Jenny exclaimed.

“Yah. Erin and I should probably go now too, that way we can walk with you, Megan.” Sophie said.

When the three girls got to Megan’s house, Megan went right to her room.

Erin and Sophie told Mrs. Davis about what had happened. After hearing the whole story, Mrs. Davis said, “I think she’s just doing this for attention. She told you about the baby, right? She’s just so disappointed that she won’t be the youngest anymore. She’s trying to keep the attention, and after the baby is born, I think it will get worse. Try not to encourage that kind of behavior, girls, all right?”

“O…k…” Sophie and Erin said with puzzled glances, and then they went home.

The next day, the girls met at the tire-swings as planned. Megan was the last to arrive. When she got there and saw the other three, her face lit up, she waved, and exclaimed, “Hi gu-“then suddenly she fell flat on her face!

“Oh no!” Sophie yelled. Jenny dropped the make-up kit she was holding and screamed; Erin sprinted inside the school to get help.

Megan had fainted again! Something was terribly wrong…
