Chapter 14: Figuring it Out     By: Rerab

“…I…decided that I could give it a shot, but I still need a little time to think about it.”

          “We understand,” Erin said, putting her hand on Jenny’s shoulder.

          “Wow,” Sophie thought, “Erin sure is being nice to Jenny…”

          “Let’s eat!!”

          “Do I have to pray?” Jenny asked.

          “Only if you feel the need to.” Megan said.

          “Okay.” Jenny said.

          “Well, we better start eating before lunch period is over!” Sophie exclaimed.

          The girls finished lunch, and the end of school felt like it would never come. Finally, when it did, Sophie was so anxious and couldn’t wait until 4:30.

          She went to Jenny’s a little early, so she could help Jenny get ready.

          “So, have you made your decision yet?” Sophie asked.

          “Not quite, because if I have to go to that church…thing, then what do I do?”

          “You listen to the preacher! It’s just like school. There is a teacher, and your weekly “test” is to see how faithful you are!”

          “Ugh, it reminds of school, don’t we have enough school for one week?”

          “Well, I guess this is quite a bit different than school too. You have to do things spiritually. You don’t just learn, you grow in your walk with Christ.”

          “Who is Christ?”

          “Christ is God. That’s just another name for Him…kind of like a nickname, but He had A LOT!” Sophie explained.

          “Oh, so who is Jesus? Is He God too?”

          “No, Jesus is God’s Son, but Jesus is PERFECT too, he’s kind of like a ‘human’ God.”

          “How did God have a Son if is Son is God?!  Why is this sooo confusing?”

          “It is complicated. God sent His Son Jesus down, and spiritually put baby Jesus in Mary’s womb. You can read about it in Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John.”

          “Oh, I think I’m beginning to get it!!” Jenny said.

          “Okay! Well, enough questions for today.” Sophie said.

          The other two girls arrived, but Megan was disappointed.

          “I HAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTEEEE MY LIFE!” She yelled.

          “Why?” Everyone asked.

          “I…It’s…a looooong story…”
