Chapter 11
Chapter 11: What Now? By: Rosy
When
Erin came down stairs, Sophie squinted at her and exclaimed, “
Erin! What are YOU doing here?!” “I’m here to get a make-over…”
Erin replied sheepishly, avoiding Sophie’s glare. “But, WHY? I thought you said it was a stupid idea.” “Well, if you woulda let me talk when yo called instead of yelling a ton of questions at me, you woulda heard THAT I HEAD CHANGED MY MIND!”
Erin was starting to get worked up and angry.
Erin stood up, then Sophie stood up and looked her straight in the eyes. “Why-did-you-pretend-to-be-me-when-you-talked-to-Megan-on-the-phone?” “How would YOU feel if you thought you were someone’s favorite friend, but then you found out you aren’t?!” Megan sank in her chair. “WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!” Sophie esclaimed. Megan stared at her fidgeting hands, cleared her throat, and stammered, “Uhh…, Sophie…?” “Stay out of this Megan!” Sophie said sternly without taking her eyes off of
Erin. “How does that have anything to do with it?!” “Soooophie!” Megan said. “I said, tay out of this, Megan!!” Sophie yelled, “THIS ISN’T YOUR PROBLEM!!” Megan jumped out of her seat and yelled to Sophie’s back, “BUT IT IS!” Sophie supn around and stared at Megan, “WHAT?!” Megan’s eyes started to well up with tears, “When
Erin called me and I asked who it was, she said, ‘Your favorite4 friend’ I thought it was you cuz she was mad at us! I feel horrible now!”
Erin just stood there, arms crossed and staring at her feet. Megan broke the silence by saying, “I… I… I gotta…go. I’m still in on the make-over thing, I… just.. Today doesn’t work,” she said shaking her head, ready to burst int tears at any moment, “Maybe Monday. I…I gotta go!” Then she ran out the door before her friends could see her cry.
Erin just stood there, then ran out the back door before Sophie could ask any more questions. Jenny sood up and clasped her hands together, “Well..” Sophie smiled sheepishly, “Looks like the make-over thing isn’t gonna happen today. How about Monday at, like, 4:30?” “Okay.” “And I’ll try to have everything planned and under control this time.” Sophie said then went home.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
the next day, Sophie couldn’t keep her mind off what had happened. She thought about it all through the pastor’s sermon until she heard him thud, “And THAT’S what you do wien you have friendship problems!” Sophie squeezed her eyes shut, and thought, “Aww, man! I missed what I needed to hear most right now!” She opened her ees and glanced over at her 8 year old sister, Gabriella, who was listening intently to the sermon, and taking notes on the back of the bulletin. “I’ll just have to look at Gabriella’s notes later,” Sophie thought.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When Sophie got to school on Monday, she saw Megan pulling books out of her locker, and Erin walking towards her locker from the opposite direction. “Perfect,” Sophie thought, “There’s n o avoiding a calm conversation now…”
