Chapter 1

Chapter 1: Not Fair By: Rosy

“Of course your parents won’t let you see a movie that’s rated R.! You’re waaaay to young!” Erin Rogers said to one of her best friends- Sophie Colemen. Sophie was always trying to be “cool” and “popular” so she could fit in with the “in” crowd. Yesterday, Sophie had actually received an invitation from Jenny Andrews- the most popular girl in the entire 8th grade! She was having a back-to-school party. She was inviting all the girls in her “clique”, all the “cute and popular” guys, and all the other people that she thought had a chance at being popular-including Sophie.

“You’re only 13! That movie looks really creepy anyway,” exclaimed Megan Davis. (Erin and Sophie’s other best friend.)

“So? I won’t pay attention to it!” Sophie said, “we’ll probably just be talking the whole time, and then we’ll go to Jenny’s house and party the night away!” Sophie sighed happily.

“But, that’s not gonna happen, since your parents won’t let you go to the movie,” Megan said. She always got the truth out in the open.

“Wait!” Sophie exclaimed, “I have a perfect idea! I’ll tell my mom that Jenny decided to skip going to the movie, and she wanted me to stay over night with a bunch of her friends! It’s golden!”

“I don’t know…” Megan said, unsure.

“Megan’s right,” Erin said, “That’s totally the wrong thing. I mean, what if your parents found out? You’d be totally busted!”

“Erin!” Sophie exclaimed, “I’m not a little goody two shoes like you! I’m 13 year old, and I don’t need you guys and my parents telling me what I can and can’t do! I can make my own choices!”

“Uh, sorry, Sophie” Megan said, “We’re just trying to protect you from getting hurt, or getting in trouble. We’re your friends, and that’s exactly WHY we’re doing it.” Megan always said it like it was right away to set Sophie straight.

“I know,” Sophie said, “I’m sorry I snapped at you guys like that, I’m just tired of people not letting me grow up! Hey by the way, do you guys want me to tell Jenny how cool you two are? You could get into the popular crowd, and Jenny could hook you up with some cute guys!”“NO!” Erin and Megan exclaimed at the same time. Boyfriends?! Eww! They both thought.

“Uh, you guys?” Megan said, “The bell’s gonna ring in like 2 minutes! We have to get to class!” The girls scurried away from their morning meeting place- the tire swings on the playground. The had met there before school started since 1st grade. They all rushed to their lockers, grabbed their books, and speed-walked to their history class. This was
Erin’s favorite class because she loved to learn new things about the past, and also the history teacher was the coolest and funniest teacher of them all. Mr. Roberston could tell a joke for 2 months, and it never got lame if he was telling it! There would always be someone laughing their head off about it. And whenever he told a story about history,
Erin felt like she was right there in it. He used such descriptive words, and so much emotion and expression. But during this particular class,
Erin just couldn’t stay focused. All she could think about was Sophie and her plan. It was like this the rest of the morning. By lunch time, she was one warning short of a detention. She knew she had to talk to Sophie. So she met up with Sophie and Megan, and also Kate Barlow, Becca Johnson, Chrissy Carter and Grace Clark-four other girls they always sat with at lunch. The second Sophie sat down on the bench across from Erin,
Erin said,” Sophie, we need to talk…”

    FUN FACT!
Hi, Rosy here! You know the teacher Mr. Robertson in this chapter? Well, he was actually kind of designed after one of my favorite teachers at school!
